Jennifer Garner, born April 17, 1972 in Houston, Texas, was raised within Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner worked as the chemist of Union Carbide. The mother of her Patricia Ann taught at a local university. So that she could follow the footsteps of her father she graduated in chemical engineering. However, because she wanted to follow her dream of becoming actress, she relocating into New York to try her chance in the movie industry. She was employed at a restaurant while appearing in Broadway shows. Garner was a guest star in the show "Felicity." (It it was on that show when she met her first husband, Scott Foley.) Garner was a star in the romantic comedy "13 Going on 30" in which she portrayed a teenager trapped in a 30 year-old's body. Garner decided to choose Gary Winick to direct the film; they were looking at other projects together until his death in 2011. Garner began his role as an ambassador for Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009. This role involves promoting literacy and nutrition in the United States, as well as early schooling. In 2014, Garner has been a member of the trustees' board of the organization. She has been pushing for early childhood education. As an ambassador, she often visits with families involved in the organisation's Early Steps to School Success program, which coaches parents on ways to support the children of the early years to learn.
