Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou was born in Beaumont in Puy de-Domme, France on August 9, 1976. She is the fourth child in the family. She was encouraged by her dentist parents and teacher who were both instructors to follow her love for acting. This was in contrast the earlier dream to pursue a career as a primatologist since she was a fan of monkeys. At the age of a young lady she became a star was fast and punctuated by the beginning of her recognition and success. In 1998, following the completion of her education, she was able to be a part of Jeunes Premiers which is an French television talent-scouting program that was sponsored by Canal+. She also took home the Most Popular Young Actress award at Beziers Festival of Young Actors. That led her pursue a career in acting professionally. Tautou was a student at the Institut Catholique de Paris in Paris as a child and attended school there and has publicly disavowed her Catholic background. Apart from acting, Tautou took up modeling and was the spokesperson for L'Oreal Mont Blanc as well as Chanel. She also has a serious love of photography. Recently, she produced an exhibition of her work at the Arles Festival, titled Superficial. The majority of her photography is focused on the spotlight and celebrities and concentrates to the journalists who watched her following her sudden fame alongside Amelie along with a series of self-portraits. Audrey Tautou became a star and became famous internationally with her debut role as Amelie Poulain on the movie Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie. Amelie has been a box office hit internationally and has been recognized in numerous international awards ceremonies. Amelie is the top grossing French language movie across the US. The film's popularity led to Tautou's appearance in numerous movies ranging from British dramatics such as Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things to Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long dimanche de fiancailles before moving to Hollywood by directing Ron Howard of the Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code along with Tom Hanks.
