Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou was born in Beaumont in Puy-de-Domme France on 8 August 1976. She was fourth child in the family. Her parents, a dentist and a teacher recognised and encouraged her passion for acting and theatre at an early age, which superseded an initial desire to be a primatologist due to her passion for monkeys. The rise of her as an actress in her early years was rapid and highlighted by early success. Following her graduation She was a participant in the French program for scouting talent on television Jeunes Premiers. She won best young Actress in Beziers Festival of Young Actors and began her professional career as an actor. Although she studied at the Institut Catholique de Paris and had a religious affiliation in her early years, Tautou is now averse to her religious upbringing and has stated that she is not officially Catholic. As well as her acting profession she began a modeling career. It is her turn to be the face of L'Oreal Mont Blanc & Chanel and often called The Chanel Muse. She also has a serious love of photography. Recently, she created an exhibit of her photography at the Arles Festival under the title Superficial. Her photography largely focuses on celebrity and fame, and is focused at the media who have scrutinized her following her sudden success with Amelie and a series of self-portraits. Audrey Tautou shot to stardom and global fame after her first role in a major film, as the lead in Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain. Amelie is a global box-office success, and received accolades in award ceremonies all over the world. The film is still the top-grossing French language film to be released in the US. Following this massive success, Tautou went on to appear in a variety of films, such as British dramatics, such as Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Long Sunday of fiancailles. She also starred alongside Tom Hanks in Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code directed by Dan Brown.
